A-66 Silver Motorway. Hinojal Section
The A-66 Silver Motorway is one of the main arteries of the Spanish road network, connecting the north and south of the Iberian Peninsula via a strategic corridor stretching approximately 800 kilometres. Within this route, the Hinojal–Cáceres section involved the conversion of 21 kilometres of the old N-630 road into a modern motorway designed to improve road safety, increase freight transport capacity and promote the economic development of the regions connected by this infrastructure
The project faced significant environmental, archaeological and land-use constraints, which had a decisive influence on the design and construction of the route. Along the route, more than twenty unique structures were built to span rivers, river valleys and natural features, ensuring that the infrastructure blended seamlessly into the natural environment
ERSIGROUP contributed to the project by supplying, fabricating and optimising the reinforcement for the various structures along the section, providing industrialised solutions that improved construction efficiency, reduced lead times and ensured high quality standards. The rationalisation of the reinforcement and the prefabrication of structural elements helped to boost productivity and facilitate the execution of one of the most significant road projects undertaken in Extremadura
KEY MILESTONES
- Construction of 21 kilometres of new dual carriageway within the strategic A-66 corridor
- Integration into the Ruta de la Plata, a transport corridor linking Seville with Gijón over a distance of approximately 800 kilometres
- Construction of more than 20 structures, including viaducts, overpasses, underpasses and special drainage works
- Adaptation of the route to meet demanding archaeological, environmental and territorial constraints
- Participation in the transformation of the old N-630 road into a modern, high-capacity infrastructure
- Implementation of prefabrication and industrialised reinforcement solutions to optimise deadlines and productivity
- Application of advanced systems for planning, monitoring and control of the works
- Technical optimisation of reinforcement through rationalisation processes developed by ERSIGROUP, improving manufacturing and assembly efficiency
- Infrastructure designed to enhance road safety and facilitate freight transport in one of Spain’s main logistics corridors
- Development of one of the most significant road projects carried out in Extremadura during the expansion of the Spanish motorway network
