Madrid Subway L1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11 and Metrosur

The expansion of the Madrid Metro network is one of the largest urban rail infrastructure projects ever undertaken in Europe. Regarded as one of the most extensive and modern metro networks in the world, the project significantly expanded the coverage of Madrid’s public transport system by introducing new lines, extensions and strategic connections between different metropolitan corridors

ERSIGROUP was involved in the execution of numerous projects as part of the Madrid Metro expansion programme, working on lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, as well as on the Metrosur and Metronorte projects, with a total of over 120 kilometres of infrastructure completed. The works included the construction of tunnels using prefabricated segment linings, diaphragm walls for deep excavations, underground stations and auxiliary structures of great technical complexity

Among the most notable projects are the connection of lines 1 and 4, involving the construction of approximately 4.5 kilometres of tunnel and four new stations, as well as the extension of line 7 through the construction of a new 1-kilometre tunnel and La Peineta station. It also played a part in the new section between La Elipa and Las Rosas, incorporating four additional stations and a fully underground route of approximately 4.5 kilometres

The industrialisation of reinforcement and the use of prefabricated solutions made it possible to optimise construction times, improve safety on site and ensure high quality standards. The manufacture of reinforcement for segmental arches, diaphragm walls and station structures required significant production and logistical capacity, making this project a benchmark within the urban rail infrastructure projects developed by ERSIGROUP
