Puerta America Hotel, Madrid

The Hotel Puerta América, located on Madrid’s Avenida de América, is a landmark high-rise development executed under advanced structural quality control and reinforcement industrialization principles. The building comprises approximately 30,000 m² of gross floor area, distributed over three basement levels dedicated to parking, twelve above-ground floors and a roof level. The structure was entirely constructed in reinforced concrete, incorporating specialized structural solutions designed to optimize the load-bearing capacity of both columns and floor systems

From a reinforcement engineering perspective, the project stands out for the implementation of industrialized reinforcement fabrication and installation processes developed by ERSIGROUP. The central structural core incorporates circular reinforced concrete columns featuring a hollow tubular steel casing embedded within the concrete and supplemented by perimeter-distributed reinforcing bars, significantly enhancing their structural resistance. In addition, several columns were designed as composite elements incorporating internal steel sections combined with reinforcing steel, resulting in high-capacity structural members capable of supporting the building’s demanding load requirements

The floor structure was executed using solid reinforced concrete slabs with thicknesses ranging from 30 cm to 40 cm. Reinforcement was rationalized through the use of custom-manufactured welded unidirectional reinforcement panels, specifically developed to suit the complex geometry of many areas of the building. Special panels measuring up to 12 m in length and 1.20 m in width were fabricated to minimize cutting operations, reduce material waste and accelerate installation activities. The primary reinforcement was arranged at 200 mm spacing, predominantly using Ø12 and Ø16 bars, adapted to the structural requirements of each level

All reinforcing steel was fabricated in ERSIGROUP’s certified industrial production facilities, enabling the application of the Intensive Execution Control Level, one of the highest quality assurance standards established under Spanish structural regulations. The industrialization of reinforcement fabrication and installation significantly reduced construction time, improved assembly quality, minimized steel consumption associated with lap splices and enabled high productivity rates throughout the construction of one of Madrid’s most iconic hotel developments
