Madrid R4-M50 Motorway
The R-4 Madrid–Ocaña motorway was one of the most significant road infrastructure projects carried out under Spain’s 2000–2007 Transport Infrastructure Plan. The project involved the construction of 53 km of new toll motorway, as well as major junctions and upgrades to the M-50 and other strategic links in the Madrid area
To optimise construction times and improve on-site performance, an industrialised construction system using prefabricated reinforcement was implemented under the Armatek Cosntruction System®, based on factory-produced electro-welded elements and corrugated steel modules. This approach significantly reduced the amount of manual work carried out at height, enhanced safety and improved the final quality of the structure
Prefabricated reinforcement was used in walls, slabs and circular piers, and was supplied fully finished and ready for direct installation on site using a crane. Thanks to this system, installation rates of up to 100 tonnes of reinforcement per day were achieved, ensuring high productivity and strict quality control throughout the construction process
