Talavera Cable-Stayed Bridge

The Talavera Southern Ring Road is one of the most iconic road infrastructure projects in Castilla-La Mancha, notable for the construction of a cable-stayed bridge which, at the time of its completion, held the world record for the longest central span on a bridge of this type with a single mast. The project significantly improved urban mobility and road links in Talavera de la Reina through a new ring road over the River Tagus

ERSIGROUP played a part in this unique project by supplying, fabricating and erecting the reinforcement for the foundations, piers, deck and structural elements of the main bridge. The infrastructure comprises a bridge approximately 700 metres long, designed to span various sections of the River Tagus, with a particular highlight being its 318-metre main span, supported by a single 184-metre-high mast

The foundation for the main pier was constructed using 56 piles, each 2.5 metres in diameter, spaced approximately 4.5 metres apart and joined by a large cap measuring 32 metres wide, 36 metres long and 6 metres high. The deck features a high-strength composite box girder section, with a total width of 36 metres and two carriageways, each 10.5 metres wide

The geometric complexity of the trusses, the heavy structural loads and the construction requirements called for extensive prefabrication and logistical planning. Drawing on its experience in major infrastructure projects, ERSIGROUP played a key role in the development of a project that has become an international benchmark in the field of cable-stayed bridges and civil engineering
