Caja Mágica Sports Complex

The Caja Mágica is one of the most distinctive sports facilities ever constructed in Spain, designed to host international tennis tournaments and large-scale sporting events. Developed on a 17-hectare site adjacent to the Manzanares River in Madrid, the complex combines reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, structural steel and large precast elements. Its structural design incorporates innovative independent retractable roofs over the main courts, representing one of the most complex construction systems implemented in a European sports venue

The development comprises approximately 104,000 m² of built area, including three main covered courts, an indoor tennis building with eleven covered courts, auxiliary facilities, technical service galleries, parking areas and supporting infrastructure. The primary structure was executed using large reinforced and prestressed concrete elements, featuring long spans, heavily reinforced columns and structurally complex portal frames

ERSIGROUP participated in the supply, fabrication and installation of reinforcing steel for columns, portal frames, slabs, retaining walls, technical galleries and the main structural components of the complex. The project required the industrialized production of large reinforcement assemblies, some of which were comparable in size and complexity to those typically used in major civil engineering projects. Particularly noteworthy were the prefabricated reinforcement cages for columns reaching 12 m in height and 11 tonnes in weight, as well as the specialized reinforcement for portal frames, grandstands and structural elements associated with the retractable roof system

The implementation of industrialized reinforcement fabrication and preassembly processes enabled optimized logistics, reduced construction schedules and improved quality and safety standards during installation. The scale of the reinforcement works and the complexity of the structural solutions make this project a benchmark among the special projects delivered by ERSIGROUP
