Quito L1 Metro (1st Phase)

DESCRIPTION

ERSI Group supplied, manufactured and assembled industrial corrugated steel reinforcements.

Line 1 will be the first underground route to operate in the Quito Metro. The stretch consists of 22 km in length and 15 stations. It is estimated that it would start to transport 375 thousand people a day.

The Construction of Line 1 of the Quito Metro was divided into two phases, the first to build the El Labrador and La Magdalena Transfer Stations, and the second and most complex to build the tunnel, the other 13 stations, trains and other works.

Three methods will be used for its construction: the “Cut and Cover” method used to build 24% of the tunnel, in the traditional way in the historical centre to protect the heritage and archaeological remains that might appear in the subsoil, and using a tunnel boring machine that will advance half a kilometre per month approximately.
