Guadalajara High-Speed Line L3 – Viaduct-
The Guadalajara Light Rail Line 3 Viaduct forms part of one of the most significant urban transportation infrastructure projects recently developed in Mexico. The project belongs to Line 3 of the Guadalajara Urban Electric Rail System (SITEUR), designed to improve metropolitan mobility by providing a high-capacity railway connection between the municipalities of Zapopan, Guadalajara and Tlaquepaque. The line extends over 21.5 km and comprises 18 stations, including 13 elevated stations supported by two major reinforced concrete viaducts and 5 underground stations. Once fully operational, the system is designed to accommodate approximately 233,000 passengers per day
From a structural engineering perspective, the project is characterized by the construction of an extensive system of elevated reinforced and prestressed concrete viaducts, designed to withstand the dynamic loads generated by urban railway operations while ensuring long-term durability and high seismic performance. The repetitive nature of the bridge piers, pier caps, girders and deck segments enabled the implementation of advanced industrialized construction methods, both in the production of precast structural components and in the optimization of reinforcement detailing, significantly improving construction efficiency and overall structural quality
ERSIGROUP participated in the structural design optimization, as well as in the fabrication and installation of prefabricated steel structures, providing engineering solutions aimed at optimizing steel consumption, simplifying on-site assembly and increasing construction productivity across multiple work fronts. The industrialized production of structural components allowed manufacturing activities to be fully coordinated with the construction sequence of the viaduct, ensuring high dimensional accuracy, complete material traceability and rigorous quality control throughout every phase of the project
The combination of detailed engineering, structural optimization, industrialized fabrication and specialized logistics enabled the successful delivery of one of Mexico’s largest urban railway infrastructure projects, reinforcing ERSIGROUP‘s expertise in major transportation infrastructure through advanced structural steel and fabricated reinforcing steel solutions
