Cañuela Viaduct

The Cañuela Viaduct, forming part of National Route 35 Bernardo Soto – Florencia, is a key component of one of Costa Rica’s most important highway infrastructure projects, developed to improve connectivity between the Central Valley and the Northern Region of the country. The project represents a strategic section of the San Carlos Highway, designed to increase road capacity, reduce travel times and enhance safety along one of Costa Rica’s principal transportation corridors

The construction of the viaduct required the execution of deep foundation works capable of transferring the significant structural loads safely to the ground through large-diameter bored piles specifically designed to ensure the stability and long-term durability of the structure. The complexity of these foundation elements demanded exceptional precision in reinforcement fabrication together with seamless coordination between industrial production and on-site installation activities

ERSIGROUP, in collaboration with Constructora MECO, was responsible for the fabrication, prefabrication and installation of reinforcing steel cages for 32 deep foundation piles, with diameters ranging from 1.20 m to 1.50 m. Through its industrialized manufacturing processes, ERSIGROUP produced high-precision reinforcement cages, optimizing production, transportation and installation while ensuring the structural integrity and quality of every foundation element

During the execution of the project, ERSIGROUP fabricated and installed approximately 500 tonnes of reinforcing steel, integrating detailed engineering, industrial manufacturing and specialized logistics to maintain continuous reinforcement supply in accordance with the construction programme. The implementation of industrialized reinforcement processes ensured outstanding dimensional accuracy, full material traceability and rigorous quality control throughout every stage of the works

ERSIGROUP‘s expertise in industrialized reinforcement solutions for deep foundation systems once again demonstrated its capability to deliver highly engineered reinforcement cages for major civil engineering infrastructure, contributing to the successful construction of one of Costa Rica’s most significant highway projects
