Mechanical splices
Mechanical splices are connectors that allow the joining of reinforcements of the same or different diameters, ensuring the transmission of forces from one bar to the next with complete safety.
They have, at a minimum, the same resistance capacity as the weakest bar among those joined and do not exhibit relative displacements greater than 0.1 mm under service stresses.
- Effective alternative to lap splicing or welding, especially when these solutions are impractical.
- Ideal for densely reinforced areas, eliminating space and vibration problems during concreting.
- Correction of execution errors, such as insufficient lap lengths.
- Simplification of design and construction, avoiding special studies on large diameter bars (>32 mm).
- Fast and safe on site, with simple installation that reduces time and increases reliability.
- Ideal for repairs to reinforced concrete structures, allowing the continuity of cut reinforcement to be restored.
- Very useful in prefabricated elements and extensions, facilitating quick and safe joints between elements or attached structures.
