This section marks the beginning of the transition from the elevated alignment to the main tunnel that will pass beneath the <strong data-start=\"318\" data-end=\"334\">Panama Canal<\/strong>, providing the structural connection between the elevated viaduct and the underground railway through a technically demanding engineering solution. The works were executed using the <strong data-start=\"517\" data-end=\"558\">New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM)<\/strong>, a construction technique that allows the tunnel support system to be continuously adapted to the geotechnical conditions encountered during excavation, thereby optimizing the structural behaviour of the tunnel<span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchor\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"810\" data-end=\"1366\">From a structural engineering perspective, the project comprised the construction of the reinforced concrete <strong data-start=\"919\" data-end=\"987\">invert slab, portal structures, tunnel arch and structural slabs<\/strong>, forming the cut-and-cover transition structure that connects the elevated alignment with the main underground tunnel. The complex geometry of these structural components required a high level of coordination between reinforcement detailing, fabrication and concrete placement to ensure structural continuity and compliance with the demanding requirements of the railway system<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1368\" data-end=\"2144\"><strong data-start=\"1368\" data-end=\"1381\"><span style=\"color: #0a626c;\"><b><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">ERSIGROUP<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0was responsible for the <strong data-start=\"1406\" data-end=\"1499\">supply, cutting, bending and fabrication of approximately 820 tonnes of reinforcing steel<\/strong> for all the tunnel&#8217;s structural elements. Through its industrialized reinforcement fabrication processes, <span style=\"color: #0a626c;\"><b><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">ERSIGROUP<\/span><\/b><\/span>\u00a0optimized manufacturing efficiency, reduced on-site installation time and achieved a high level of dimensional accuracy for every reinforcement assembly.
