Developed through a strategic partnership between <strong data-start=\"302\" data-end=\"344\">Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil and Edison<\/strong>, the terminal was designed to enhance the security of energy supply to northern Italy through a <strong data-start=\"441\" data-end=\"474\">Gravity-Based Structure (GBS)<\/strong> constructed onshore and subsequently towed to its permanent offshore location in the Adriatic Sea. The facility has an <strong data-start=\"594\" data-end=\"673\">annual regasification capacity of approximately 8 billion m\u00b3 of natural gas<\/strong> and incorporates <strong data-start=\"691\" data-end=\"755\">two LNG storage tanks with a combined capacity of 250,000 m\u00b3<\/strong><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchor\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"796\" data-end=\"1398\">From a structural engineering perspective, the platform measures approximately <strong data-start=\"875\" data-end=\"928\">188 m in length, 88 m in width and 47 m in height<\/strong>, comprising a post-tensioned foundation slab, double-hull perimeter walls, an intermediate deck supporting the cryogenic storage tanks and a top deck carrying the regasification process facilities. The reinforced concrete structure was designed not only to withstand permanent and operational loads but also to resist the demanding marine conditions associated with flotation, towing, installation and long-term offshore operation<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1400\" data-end=\"2245\"><strong data-start=\"1400\" data-end=\"1413\">ERSIGROUP<\/strong>, through its subsidiary <strong data-start=\"1438\" data-end=\"1449\">Armasur<\/strong>, participated in the supply, fabrication and installation of reinforcing steel for the entire concrete structure. The scale of the project required a highly industrialized production process to manufacture and deliver <strong data-start=\"1668\" data-end=\"1717\">24,000 tonnes of fabricated reinforcing steel<\/strong>, distributed throughout the foundation slab, double-hull walls, intermediate deck supporting the LNG tanks and upper structural walls. The <strong data-start=\"1857\" data-end=\"1901\">15,800 m\u00b2 post-tensioned foundation slab<\/strong> alone incorporated approximately <strong data-start=\"1935\" data-end=\"1972\">4,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel<\/strong>, while the lower walls contained <strong data-start=\"2006\" data-end=\"2022\">7,000 tonnes<\/strong> and the upper walls a further <strong data-start=\"2053\" data-end=\"2069\">7,500 tonnes<\/strong>. These elements were constructed using <strong data-start=\"2109\" data-end=\"2146\">slip-form construction techniques<\/strong>, achieving climbing rates of up to <strong data-start=\"2182\" data-end=\"2206\" data-is-only-node=\"\">1.2 metres per shift<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2247\" data-end=\"2855\">The repetitive nature of the structural components enabled the implementation of advanced reinforcement prefabrication, optimization and logistics processes, maximizing manufacturing efficiency and ensuring a continuous supply of reinforcement to the construction site. Developed through a strategic partnership between Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil and Edison, the terminal was designed to enhance the security of energy supply to northern Italy through a Gravity-Based Structure (GBS) constructed onshore and subsequently towed to its permanent offshore location in the Adriatic Sea.
