Adriatic LNG Terminal<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Is one of the most significant offshore energy infrastructures developed in Europe for the reception, storage and regasification of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Developed through a strategic partnership between Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil and Edison<\/strong>, the terminal was designed to enhance the security of energy supply to northern Italy through a Gravity-Based Structure (GBS)<\/strong> constructed onshore and subsequently towed to its permanent offshore location in the Adriatic Sea. The facility has an annual regasification capacity of approximately 8 billion m\u00b3 of natural gas<\/strong> and incorporates two LNG storage tanks with a combined capacity of 250,000 m\u00b3<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

From a structural engineering perspective, the platform measures approximately 188 m in length, 88 m in width and 47 m in height<\/strong>, comprising a post-tensioned foundation slab, double-hull perimeter walls, an intermediate deck supporting the cryogenic storage tanks and a top deck carrying the regasification process facilities. The reinforced concrete structure was designed not only to withstand permanent and operational loads but also to resist the demanding marine conditions associated with flotation, towing, installation and long-term offshore operation<\/p>\n

ERSIGROUP<\/strong>, through its subsidiary Armasur<\/strong>, participated in the supply, fabrication and installation of reinforcing steel for the entire concrete structure. The scale of the project required a highly industrialized production process to manufacture and deliver 24,000 tonnes of fabricated reinforcing steel<\/strong>, distributed throughout the foundation slab, double-hull walls, intermediate deck supporting the LNG tanks and upper structural walls. The 15,800 m\u00b2 post-tensioned foundation slab<\/strong> alone incorporated approximately 4,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel<\/strong>, while the lower walls contained 7,000 tonnes<\/strong> and the upper walls a further 7,500 tonnes<\/strong>. These elements were constructed using slip-form construction techniques<\/strong>, achieving climbing rates of up to 1.2 metres per shift<\/strong><\/p>\n

The repetitive nature of the structural components enabled the implementation of advanced reinforcement prefabrication, optimization and logistics processes, maximizing manufacturing efficiency and ensuring a continuous supply of reinforcement to the construction site. The close integration of detailed engineering, industrial fabrication and logistics planning proved essential for maintaining the demanding construction schedule of this technically complex offshore infrastructure while ensuring the highest standards of quality, traceability and construction safety<\/p>\n

The combination of detailed engineering, industrialized reinforcing steel fabrication and advanced construction techniques consolidated ERSIGROUP<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/strong>‘s<\/strong> participation in one of the largest concrete gravity-based structures ever developed for the energy sector, demonstrating the company’s capability to deliver large-scale reinforcing steel solutions for technically demanding international offshore projects<\/p>\n
