The project consisted primarily of the construction of a <strong data-start=\"392\" data-end=\"449\">1,770 m long reinforced concrete cut-and-cover tunnel<\/strong>, incorporating a <strong data-start=\"467\" data-end=\"494\">four-cell cross-section<\/strong>. Two of the internal cells accommodate the M-111 highway carriageways, while the remaining two are dedicated to airport service traffic and utility infrastructure<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"698\" data-end=\"1337\">From the perspective of fabricated reinforcing steel, the project presented significant technical challenges due to the unique geometry of the structure and the exceptionally high loading conditions generated by airport operations. The tunnel structure was formed by a system of <strong data-start=\"977\" data-end=\"1036\">vaults, invert slabs and reinforced concrete side walls<\/strong>, all constructed with <strong data-start=\"1059\" data-end=\"1111\">60 cm thick heavily reinforced concrete sections<\/strong> designed to withstand the demanding loads associated with heavy road traffic as well as aircraft taxiing, take-off and landing operations on the runways located directly above the tunnel<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1339\" data-end=\"2108\"><strong data-start=\"1339\" data-end=\"1352\"><span style=\"color: #0a626c;\">ERSIGROUP<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0participated in the supply, fabrication and installation of reinforcement for the tunnel walls, vaults, invert slabs, foundation slabs and transition structures. Meeting the demanding construction schedule required the implementation of advanced reinforcement industrialization and optimization techniques. To achieve the required production rates, a system based on the <strong data-start=\"1724\" data-end=\"1799\">prefabrication of standardized reinforcement units for walls and vaults<\/strong> was developed in a dedicated off-line fabrication yard and subsequently lifted into position by crane. Some of these prefabricated reinforcement assemblies exceeded <strong data-start=\"1965\" data-end=\"1987\">5 tonnes in weight<\/strong>, significantly reducing installation times while improving site safety conditions<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2110\" data-end=\"2934\">The industrialized reinforcement solutions developed by <strong data-start=\"1328\" data-end=\"1341\"><span style=\"color: #0a626c;\">ERSIGROUP<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0enabled the project team to maintain <strong data-start=\"2217\" data-end=\"2268\">48-hour concreting cycles per formwork carriage<\/strong>, using self-supporting formwork systems measuring <strong data-start=\"2319\" data-end=\"2337\">12 m in length<\/strong>, a key requirement for achieving the planned construction programme. In addition, <strong data-start=\"2420\" data-end=\"2506\">industrialized unidirectional reinforcement panels incorporating bars up to \u00d825 mm<\/strong> were used for foundation slabs and retaining walls, ensuring accurate bar spacing and optimized installation procedures.
