In an event that highlighted the strategic value of business leadership<\/strong>, LA RAZ\u00d3N held the fourth edition of the CEO of the Year Awards<\/strong> yesterday at the NH Hotel in M\u00e1laga. A total of twenty executives from various sectors were honoured for their professional excellence, capacity for innovation, contribution to sustainability, social impact and leadership. The event was attended by, amongst others, the editor-in-chief of LA RAZ\u00d3N, Francisco Marhuenda; the Regional Minister for Tourism and Andalusia Abroad, Arturo Bernal; the Member of Parliament and CEO of Turismo Costa del Sol, Esperanza Gonz\u00e1lez; and the newspaper\u2019s representative in Andalusia, Jos\u00e9 Lugo<\/p>\n The newspaper\u2019s editor began his speech by expressing his delight at presenting the awards in M\u00e1laga, which he described as \u201cone of the driving forces behind Spain\u2019s economy\u201d<\/strong>. Marhuenda sought to highlight the purpose of these awards by stating that tonight\u2019s ceremony would honour the \u201creal economy\u201d, something he likes to emphasise because, \u201calthough talking about macroeconomics is all very well, it is essential to recognise those who make it grow\u201d, he said. He also drew a parallel between the work of CEOs and the experience of LA RAZ\u00d3N as part of the Planeta Group, noting that \u201cwe know what a business is\u201d and what it needs. On this point, he referred to one of the main demands of the business community<\/strong> and stated that \u201cwe must ask politicians for an appropriate framework to enable us to develop\u201d, which must be accompanied by \u201ca legal framework that gives us security\u201d<\/strong>, he added<\/p>\n That being the case, with a very clear vision of business management, he pointed out that this year\u2019s award winners \u201cknow what management is all about\u201d<\/strong>, whether in companies \u201cwith a single employee or tens of thousands\u201d, he explained, before going on to say that, ultimately, without the teams supporting the CEOs, none of them would be where they are today. He also reflected on the value of shared talent and thanked the executives for their work, an effort that was reflected yesterday in \u201cthese more than well-deserved awards\u201d<\/p>\n \n <\/p>\n The awards ceremony, hosted by Antena 3 news presenter Roc\u00edo Luque,<\/strong> took place in an atmosphere of recognition for the leaders who, across a range of sectors, are making a difference to the Spanish economy and society. From fashion to technology, via tourism, energy, security, logistics and the hospitality industry, the award-winning CEOs represent a diverse cross-section of the talent driving companies towards innovation<\/strong>, sustainability and internationalisation. Names such as F\u00e9lix Ramiro, Borja D\u00edaz, Francisca Garc\u00eda Moreno, \u00c1lvaro Blanco, Eric Dillmann, Zazou Belounis and Antonio Sas were among the stars of the evening<\/p>\n The award winners all agreed that the true value of their success lies in the team that supports them<\/strong>. This was a recurring theme in almost all the speeches, which highlighted the importance of leading through trust, empathy and a shared vision. Sustainability was another recurring theme. Projects focused on reducing the environmental footprint, promoting more responsible production models or fostering rural development, such as Orbis Ways or PackBenefit, were recognised not only for their financial results but also for their social impact. Furthermore, there was scope to highlight the need to ease the tax burden on businesses<\/strong>, particularly in the early years of operation. This concern was shared by many of those present, who described it as a barrier that still hinders the growth and consolidation of new initiatives<\/strong><\/p>\n The gala served to highlight the profile of the business leaders that today\u2019s society demands<\/strong>: leaders who manage resources and plan strategies, who embrace social responsibility, who create healthy working environments, foster diversity and promote digitalisation. This was made clear by the group of award winners, who represent sectors as diverse as insurance, advertising, energy, the dairy industry, technology and workplace wellbeing, amongst others. They all share the same vision: to drive transformation through excellence and contribute to a more robust, humane and sustainable economy<\/strong><\/p>\n Bernal<\/strong>, who was tasked with closing the ceremony, joked about the references made to him when the award winners \u201cmentioned taxes\u201d<\/strong>, before going on to state that \u201cin Andalusia we have managed to achieve six consecutive tax cuts and, as things stand, it is the region with the lowest tax burden in the whole of Spain\u201d<\/strong>. His speech centred on the harmony between the Andalusian administration and the business community, endorsing the award winners\u2019 request and recalling that \u201cwe have always fought to ensure that money remains in the hands of taxpayers\u201d. He also highlighted the role played by his team at the Regional Ministry, which he described as an \u201cexceptional group of professionals\u201d dedicated to what he called \u201cthe happiness industry\u201d, in reference to tourism<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the Andalusian minister used his speech to convey a message of optimism regarding Andalusia\u2019s economic dynamism, a region in which \u201c80% of all new businesses in Spain were created last year\u201d<\/strong>. With these figures in hand, he stated that \u201cthis highlights the strength of a region that ranks first in terms of reducing the tax burden\u201d, although he acknowledged that in Andalusia \u201creforms are still being undertaken to foster greater entrepreneurship, support business projects and sustain these initiatives during their first years of operation\u201d<\/p>\n “Here you have an autonomous community that has, without any hesitation, identified business activity as a key driver of wealth and job creation,”<\/strong> he concluded<\/p>\n Once again, the fourth edition of the CEO of the Year Awards served as a call to responsibility, collective effort and the need to continue strengthening the Spanish business ecosystem.<\/strong> On this occasion, M\u00e1laga became the focal point for recognising managerial talent which, through vision and perseverance, helps to build a more robust, people-centred and sustainable economy<\/p>\n \n <\/p>\n F\u00e9lix Ramiro<\/strong>, CEO and designer.
